Curbside Trash Pickup Facts

Woodland Township is considering curbside trash and recycling pickup.  There will be a question on the November 4th ballot so that the township can obtain the opinion of the residents.

We would like to provide you, our resident, with the following facts to help you make an informed decision on November 4th.

Fact #1 – As per the 2015 trash contract Woodland Township will pay approximately 10% less if we switch to curb side pickup.  We would eliminate dumpster fees, port-a-potty fees & be able to reallocate the employee’s hours to other township duties.

Fact #2 – Curbside collection will happen 1 day/week, every week.

Fact #3 – Curbside collection will still allow the residents to place large bulk items at the curb along with regular trash cans.

Fact #4 – A dumpster will still be available in town for the “white good” items such as refrigerators, washers, dryers etc.

Fact #5 – Homeowners will be able to place 3 - 64 gallon trash cans out each week.

Fact #4 – Curbside collection will also apply to recycling.  Burlington County will be starting “single-stream” recycling September 1st. Which means that all bottles, cans, cardboard and paper will be collected together.

Fact #4 – The Township will pay nothing for the curbside recycling collection.  This service is already in your county portion of real estate taxes.  In other words – YOU ARE ALREADY PAYING FOR THIS SERVICE.  The township has grant money that will pay for the recycling containers.  Recycling collection will happen 1day/bi-weekly

Fact #5 – Recycling dumpsters will still be available in town for the collection of bottles, cans, paper, cardboard and used motor oil, as well as the white good items.

Fact #6 – There will be no separate bill for curbside collection.  Trash collection costs will be paid for, as they are now, through the current fund of the budget, which is funded, in part, from the local purpose tax monies. There will no tax increase because of curbside trash collection.

Fact #7 – No employees will lose their job.  Employees that worked at the transfer station will have more time to perform other public works duties.

Please join us on September 8th or October 20th from 7:00p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the municipal building for a public forum to answer your questions regarding curbside collection.
